I conducted my traffic study in Gainesville, Florida at around 5:00 pm. From what I could tell, there are a lot of people in the area that drive solo in both old and new cars. I considered the time of day and it was prime time for those getting off work to be on the road, so I can also conclude that not many people in the area carpool. The most common vehicle was a small car and there was a pretty even distribution of old and new cars. Also, most of the vehicles that had 3 or more occupants were older.
